OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE D’AGUANNO

Tomorrow (Thursday, April 12), you can listen to a LIVE performance from Venice of Puccini's "Madame Butterfly." This one is being made available to us on the "La Fenice Channel."

Also on Thursday, the Met will be offering a free LIVE audio-stream of Massenet's "Cendrillon" which, as many of you know, will be receiving an HD-transmission later this month (April 28). Massenet's version of the popular Cinderella story features Joyce DiDonato in the title role and Alice Coote in the "trouser role" of the Prince.

Radio 3 (RAI) brings us a LIVE performance on Friday of Bellini's "I Puritani" -- direct from Palermo.

Then on Saturday, many opera fans will be attending the LIVE HD-transmission from the Met of Verdi's "Luisa Miller" with a stellar cast which includes Sonya Yoncheva, Piotr Beczala, and Placido Domingo. This performance may also be heard on several internet radio stations.

There's even more Verdi available to us on Saturday as OperaVision brings us a video-stream from Oslo of "La Traviata." Actually, if you wish, you could still attend the "Luisa Miller" HD-transmission and save the "Traviata" for later on, since the video of the latter work will be available for your viewing pleasure for some time afterwards.

Sunday (April 15) brings us two interesting offerings on internet radio. From Paris, there's a LIVE performance of Auber's "Domino Noir" which should delight those opera fans who have a special fondness for the works of Rossini & Offenbach, as Auber's style is something like a mixture of both.

In a more serious vein, Radio 3 (RAI) brings us yet another LIVE performance, with the broadcast from La Scala of Zandonai's "Francesca da Rimini."

Enjoy!
