OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

For many opera lovers, the "main event" this coming Saturday (January 30) will undoubtedly be the LIVE HD-transmission from the Met of Puccini's "Turandot" with soprano Nina Stemme in the title role. Many internet radio stations will also be broadcasting this performance (audio only).

Another LIVE event this Saturday will be a concert performance from Paris of what is probably Korngold's most popular opera: "Die Tote Stadt."

Also LIVE this Saturday, from La Scala, it's Handel's 1707 oratorio "Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno" ("The Triumph of Time & Truth"). This one can be heard on Radio 3 (RAI).

Those of you who may be particularly intrigued by soprano Sondra Radvanovsky's dauntless quest to sing all 3 queens of the so-called Donizetti 3-Queens Trilogy will find the Met's FREE offering this Friday evening at 7:25 pm of particular interest. The opera being broadcast is "Maria Stuarda" -- soon to be followed by "Roberto Devereux" at area movie theatres on April 16.

Enjoy!

OPERA ON THE INTERNET
WITH
DAVE  D' AGUANNO

Most internet radio stations this coming Saturday (January 23) will be broadcasting the October 31, 2015 performance of Wagner's "Tannhauser" which is actually the same performance that received its LIVE HD-transmission at that time.

As far as LIVE opera being aired this Saturday is concerned, Radio 3 (RAI) will be broadcasting a performance of Verdi's "Attila" direct from Bologna.

On Radio 4 (the Netherlands), it's a LIVE broadcast from Amsterdam of Handel's 3-act opera "Ariodante" which saw its first-ever performance in 1735.

Tomorrow evening at 7:25 pm, it's "Cav/Pag time" as the Met will be airing a LIVE performance of the Mascagni & Leoncavallo works.

Enjoy!
